Hilarious and funny! This second film by Ben Stiller (after Zoolander, 2001) about a group of narcissistic actors filming a Vietnam war epic somewhere in Southeast Asia is a big budget production written all over it with stunning explosions, exotic locale and cameo appearances by noted actors, not to mention top notch performances by the leads. It doesn’t disappoint as it tries to poke fun at the excessess and the oftentimes questionable methods and dealings of Hollywood. Setting the mood are three faux trailers/parodies that introduces the characters at the start of the movie. Of the cast, two are memorable: Robert Downey Jr. who superbly rendered his role as method actor Kirk Lazarus playing a black man role and Tom Cruise as the foul-mouthed media mogul Les Grossman who often breaks into dance routines.
Its a totally brainless comedy that has sharp satirical undertones.
